Build confidence
Beginners
There are sunny nursery slopes with free magic carpets at Les Esserts and Les Moulins, but the mountain is big and steep overall, so progression beyond the learning zones takes more confidence than in gentler resorts.
Refine your technique
Intermediates
There is enjoyable cruising above Les Ruinettes, La Chaux and the Savoleyres sector, with huge mileage available across the 4 Vallées. Although, the main Verbier pistes can get crowded, and much of the resort's most celebrated terrain sits off-piste.

Verbier is one of the world's great freeride resorts. Seven marked-but-ungroomed itinéraires (including Mont-Gelé, Vallon d'Arbi and the Tortin descents), the mogulled Mont-Fort summit black run and the Bec des Rosses – home of the Xtreme Verbier – keep experts endlessly challenged.
Master every descent
Snowboarders
Verbier's freeride reputation applies just as much to snowboarders – the Freeride World Tour crowns its snowboard champions here. The La Chaux Snowpark offers three progression lines of kickers, rails and boxes, plus a skicross course and fun zones.

Everything You Need To Know About Resort
Verbier is a chalet-style village resort in the Swiss canton of Valais, set at 1,500m on a sunny plateau above the Val de Bagnes. Life centres on the Place Centrale, and the village offers more than 110 restaurants and bars. Getting there is simple: trains run to Le Châble (around 2 hours 40 minutes from Geneva), from where Verbier is just 20 minutes away by cable car or bus, at the same fare. Free shuttle buses run around the resort all year round. Verbier is the anchor of the 4 Vallées: the largest ski area entirely located in Switzerland, with 410km of slopes and 82 lifts linking six resorts – Verbier, Bruson, La Tzoumaz, Nendaz, Veysonnaz and Thyon. The skiing rises from the villages to Mont-Fort, the area's 3,330m high point. Verbier's own sector is open and sunny, accessed via Les Ruinettes, La Chaux and Attelas between 1,500m and 2,700m. Across the bowl, the Savoleyres/La Tzoumaz sector has wide, accessible slopes that are ideal for gentle progress, while Bruson – reached from Le Châble – offers wooded, sheltered and peaceful terrain. For experts, Verbier is world famous. Seven secured, marked but ungroomed itinéraires – including the iconic Mont-Gelé (3,023m), Col des Mines, Vallon d'Arbi and Mur de Chassoure – open up the powder in safer conditions, and the summit of Mont-Fort serves a difficult, frequently mogulled black run. Each spring, the nearby Bec des Rosses (3,223m), with slopes of up to 43 degrees, hosts the Xtreme Verbier: the famous final of the Freeride World Tour, which celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2026. Beginners have dedicated zones with free magic carpets at Les Esserts, Les Moulins and La Tzoumaz. For freestyle, the La Chaux Snowpark (2,250m) has three progression lines with kickers, rails and boxes, alongside a 700m skicross run, a mini speed-skiing course and a 23-element funslope on the Savoleyres side. Views are a highlight of the area. From the Mont-Fort platform, the panorama takes in the Matterhorn, Dent Blanche, Grand Combin and Mont Blanc, and guests can enjoy the highest-altitude fondue in Europe or book a sunrise trip to the summit. Away from skiing and snowboarding, the Savoleyres–La Tzoumaz toboggan run is one of the longest in French-speaking Switzerland, with a 711m vertical descent. The Mont 4 Zipline drops 383m over its 1,400m length from the Mont-Fort summit, reaching speeds of up to 100km/h. Other activities include tandem paragliding from Les Ruinettes, dog sledding, night ski touring and 12 signposted snowshoe routes. The Verbier Sports Centre offers swimming pools, a 600m² climbing wall, squash and tennis. In terms of culture, Verbier hosts the Verbier Festival: a renowned classical music festival founded in 1994, held each summer in the Salle des Combins and the Église de Verbier. Down in Le Châble, the Musée de Bagnes stages exhibitions in a parish house dating from the 13th to 17th centuries. Dining ranges from mountain huts to fine dining, including La Table d'Adrien at Le Chalet d'Adrien: Verbier's Michelin-starred restaurant. Nightlife is a big part of the resort's identity, from après-ski institutions such as Farinet Après-Ski and the Pub Mont Fort to the Farm Club, a nightclub that has run since 1971. Verbier was named Switzerland's Best Ski Resort at the 2025 World Ski Awards. In summer, the area offers 500km of hiking trails, extensive mountain biking and two golf courses.
